The Yves Rocher Story
1930
THE BIRTH OF A NATURELOVER
Yves Rocher was born in the small village of La Gacilly, in Brittany. At the age of 14, as a result of the death of his father, he took refuge in the woods where he found solace. At this moment, Yves Rocher realized that nature has a positive impact on our well-being. He then decided to make a hand-made cream from lesser celandine in his attic. This was the beginning of botanical beauty.
1959
CREATION OF THE BRAND
From his family home, Yves Rocher created his own laboratory. With mail order, he succeeded in bringing naturally committed skincare products directly to millions of women, without intermediaries. Accessible products distributed all over France.
1973
THE ICON THAT CROSSES THE AGES
Launch of "Riche Crème Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream” With its precious oils and its thousand roses oil, it didn't take long for our anti-aging product to become a hit. 50 years later, our Riche Crème line became iconic to millions of women with 1 product sold every 5 seconds around the world.

CREATION OF THE BOTANICAL GARDENIN LA GACILLY
A real open-air laboratory imagined by Mr. Yves Rocher. 1500 plant species are preserved and studied by our experts. Member of the BGCI (Botanic Gardens Conservation International), the Yves Rocher Botanical Garden is part of an international network for the transfer of knowledge and savoir-faire.

Our signature plants from La Gacilly, wild Chamomile, Calendula or Cornflower, are UEBT certified (Union for Organic Ethical Trade) and are cultivated using agroecological methods to promote a positive agriculture contributing to the respect of natural resources and to the regeneration of biodiversity.

Used for its soothing and softening properties, chamomile was one of the first plants grown by Yves Rocher in its homeland of La Gacilly in 1979.
Cornflower
In 1972, Yves Rocher envisioned cornflower-based beauty products for the first time. Today, we cultivate it for its soothing and protective properties* at our very own fields in La Gacilly, France. *Tests in vitro on cornflower extracts
Edulis
Our researchers in Plant-Based Cosmetics have selected Edulis for its ability to capture and retain water in its leaves. Its exclusive extract, Edulis Cellular Water, a hydration activator, helps to: store* water in every skin layer, repeatedly locking* and releasing* it for continuous hydration. *In vitro tests - Patent registered in France
Nasturtium & Tetraselmis Micro-Algae
Yves Rocher scientists have developed a uniquely effective complex of active ingredients by combining Nasturtium grown using sustainable farming practices on our fields in La Gacilly with a Tetraselmis Micro-Algae extract grown in a photobioreactor in Bretagne, two methods of natural and responsible farming that they have been optimizing and mastering for over 25 years on our land in Bretagne. Deep within the skin, Micro-Alga and Nasturtium, two patented* Breton plant extracts, revitalize and detoxify skin**. Ingredients sourced from local suppliers that respect biodiversity. Tetraselmis Micro-Alga
Our Botanical Beauty® Researchers have been inspired by the purifying power of the oceans and have selected the Tetraselmis micro-alga, a marine plant with oxygenating and anti-oxidant* properties. Grown in a bioreactor off our Brittany coast using a 100% natural process, this technique produces a controlled and reasoned yield to take advantage of this micro-alga's beauty benefits while preserving natural resources. For this new Pure Algue range, the Tetraselmis micro-alga is incorporated into the heart of highly natural formulas, and helps to detoxify the skin. Better oxygenated, fortified and sustainably protected, the skin is healthy and glowing. *In vitro tests on the Tetraselmis Micro-Alga extract
The Ice Plant
Cultivated using sustainable agricultural practices in La Gacilly, the Ice Plant is harvested once a year at the height of its freshness and concentration in active molecules. Yves Rocher Scientists have developed a botanical Cryoextraction technique, a cold extraction process used on the fresh plant to release and concentrate all its power while preserving the integrity of its vegetal ingredients. This exclusive and patented method is the source of our latest 100% fresh, 100% preserved botanical extract that is perfectly absorbed by the skin and is without preservatives.
